Just a thought....

so I'm thinking that most people who read here, spend (obviously) at least a little time on the computer. Well, I love my computer time too! I always have my same routine.

1. check webmail
2. check yahoogroups (I moderate our homeschool groups page)
3. check banking accounts
4. check bloglines and facebook - if time permits
Done.

This takes me about 3o minutes or so depending on how many emails I need to answer. However, I like to do this first thing in the morning; however, sometimes finding 30 minutes first thing in the morning while my children are still sleeping is very hard. I need that early morning quiet time to pry my eyes open and waddle to the bathroom and hopefully still have time for some decent Bible study time. So, as you see most of the time computer time falls after breakfast and the kids are awake.

I like my kids with me or at least in earshot 95% of the time. Why, well that is another post; but I do like them near. So how do I solve computer time and keep them close? EASY! No, they don't sit bored and watch the screen or the tube. They sit and listen to an Adventure in Odyssey while I do my computer work. They are fun programs produced by Focus on the Family and each day they post a new Odyssey to listen to over the net. My kids love this program and I love that they are occupied while I'm getting my work done. Just a little tip from me to you!

I've heard of Adventures in Odyssey before. How old are your kids? Mine are 5 and under. Would it work for that age group?

We love Adventures. We've been so blessed to find 3 sets of the tapes at yard sales over the years. I did not know we could listen on the net so thanks for sharing. We'll have to listen in for those too.

My boys (11,7,5,3) all love Adventures as well.

Michelle,

I think that your kids would probably enjoy them. It just depends on their attention span and what the topic of that days broadcast is. I have a 10, 8, 6, and 3 year old and they enjoy them. Hope that helps.
